For those whom I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting at one of my many pop ups across nz… i’m Lauren Clothier, founder of Sabi!

Sabi came to life in May of 2022 in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand and in 2024 we are now based in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Back when I envisioned the brand I wanted to create, my priorities were to make quality, effortless jewellery available and affordable for everyone, everyday. My focus was to make the everyday person feel empowered and complemented by their chosen sabi piece. Whether that was from finding a special necklace to never take off or a statement pair of earrings for a special event, every sabi piece has been designed to elevate any moment.

The word sabi originates from the Japanese aesthetic concept ‘wabi-sabi’ and possesses the meaning of ‘finding the beauty in imperfections, impermanence and simplicity’. More specifically the word ‘sabi’ on its own refers to ‘things whose beauty stems from age’ - a word I find incredibly beautiful and extremely fitting for a brand whose jewellery only gets better the more its worn.

Every piece of jewellery has been carefully crafted with premium, hypoallergenic, nickel free stainless steel with your choice of 18k gold filling or silver colourways. The reason I chose these materials is mostly for the fact they are super gentle on your skin and wont cause irritation like other metals - but more importantly, stainless steel is incredibly long wearing, meaning all of our pieces are waterproof and don’t tarnish! Truly designed to last a life time.
